A Leader after God's own heart - Part 1

Who is a leader?
According to the dictionary, a leader is
1. A person who leads
2. A guiding or directing head, as of an army, movement, or political group
Three references to a leader in the bible
1Chr1:27; 1Chr13:1; Isaiah 55:4
A leader is one who has been influenced and in turn influences others.
Leadership is passion. Without passion, a person will have very little influence as a leader. I believe passion provides an individual with the light of leadership and creates an undeniable drive to make a difference.
Leadership is not just achieved by those who speak the most eloquently, command the most attention or win the most awards. One doesn’t even have to be a head of department, manager or army commander. Rather, leadership is one’s ability to influence and help others.
Some examples of leaders in the bible are Deborah, Moses, Paul, and of course, the Ultimate Leader, Jesus Christ.
There are different kinds of leaders; our focus will be on servant leadership.

The Call to Lead
Matthew 28:18-20
V18 Jesus is the ultimate Leader, all power on heaven and earth has been given unto Him. Jesus is saying here that “In View of My authority, I commission you with full power of attorney to carry on the work that I have started John 15:16; John 16:23 This means “by the authority of’. Here it means the authority of all three persons and not the authority of Jesus only. He is the one authorizing us to recognize the others as well as Himself. It is by the authority of Jesus Christ that we baptize at all, and it is by His authority that we baptize in the name of, or by the authority of all three persons.
Go. This applies to all believers, not only preachers. The invitation to salvation is for all alike, so why should not the responsibility of getting the invitation to others be for all alike? We have the same rights, privileges, promises and provision for equipment for service, so all should help in every possible way to evangelize the world according to our talents and direction from God Philippians 4:13. There is no excuse for millions of church members leaving this work to a few only who seek to obey the great commission.
Teach. (Greek Mathetuo, to make disciples, enroll as a learner or pupil). All nations, that means everyone, rich or poor, black, white, red or blue. Matthew 13:52; 27:57; Acts 14:21
Baptize them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Baptizing in the name of the Father and the Son refers to being born again, the baptism that saves the soul and brings one into the Body of Christ Eph4:4-6. Baptizing them in the name of the Holy Ghost refers to the endowment of power for service. It can take place before water baptism (Acts 10:44-48) or after it (Acts 1:4-8; 2:1-11; 8:12-21; 19:1-7)
Teaching. (Greek Didasko, give instruction) The idea here is more that of instructing than of enrolling disciples to be taught. This states that we are to teach all nations until Christ comes again – ALL THINGS whatsoever I have commanded you. No man or no church has a right to qualify or limit, or to add to or take from any of the original teachings and practices of Christ and the apostles. This means that every jot and tittle of the New testament from Matthew 1:1 to Rev22:21 is the contract we are now under and all of it must be taught and practiced by Christians.

In conclusion, Go ye, lead, baptize and teach in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost until He comes again. Shalom!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Be sure to make New Year plans not New Year resolutions. A RESOLUTION is an expression of a will or intent; however, a PLAN involves actions and goals. As you make your plans, be sure to include THE ONE who gives the increase and HE will definitely send genuine helpers to water the plan.

My prayer for you is that this year you will stand for something and not fall for anything.

Much love,

Listen

I know we are all aware of this scripture, this is just to juggle our memories. This really ministered to me, as I know I tend to get busy doing so many things, and forget to just sit down patiently at the foot of Jesus and LISTEN.
It is interesting that women complain that their husbands don't listen, well when was the last time you actually listened to Jesus.

Luke 10:38-42
As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!" "Martha, Martha, the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed, Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."
Devotional
This passage is so full of many things to teach but I want to focus on listening to the words of Jesus. When the word of God is being spoken we are to listen as Martha was doing in this story. Regardless of who is sharing the word of God, remember that they are speaking as if Jesus were speaking Himself.
